Safety & Access Supports National Scaffolding Week: Celebrating Excellence in Scaffold Safety & Innovation

This week, we’re proud to stand behind National Scaffolding Week (NSW), an initiative driven by the Scaffolding Association that spotlights the achievements, innovations, and best practices within the UK’s scaffolding sector.

Why National Scaffolding Week Matters

  • Recognition & Visibility: NSW gives scaffolding professionals and organisations the platform to be celebrated for safety excellence, apprenticeship development, innovation, and contributions to their communities.

  • Industry Showcase: With over 6,000 scaffolding firms and some 34,000 operatives across the UK, the scaffolding trade is a backbone of built-environment safety, contributing around £2.86 billion to the UK economy annually.

  • Engagement & Inspiration: Through the “Scaff Stars” campaign, NSW encourages nominations of apprentices, expert scaffold designers, site leaders, and visionaries whose work helps push the industry forward.

  • Raising Standards: NSW’s aim is not only to celebrate, but also to promote higher safety and training standards, improved awareness, and a stronger culture around scaffold inspection, competence, and compliance.

What Safety & Access Is Doing This Week

At Safety & Access, we view National Scaffolding Week as more than a calendar event, it aligns deeply with our mission to drive safer operations, stronger skills, and cleaner compliance across the scaffolding and access sector. Here’s how we’re participating:

  1. Sharing Knowledge & Best Practice
We’ll be publishing spotlights, case studies, and technical insights, centred on scaffold inspection, rescue readiness, and practical safety on site.

  2. Scaff Star Nominations
We’re actively nominating standout individuals from our training cohorts and partner clients, those who show dedication, leadership, and a drive to promote scaffold safety.

  3. Engagement & Visibility
Using the official hashtags #ScaffWeek and #NSW, we’ll amplify stories and voices across social media platforms, celebrating the scaffold industry’s innovation, challenges, and success.

  4. A Call to Action: Train, Inspect, Improve
In the spirit of NSW, we encourage all scaffold users, contractors, and safety teams to reflect on their inspection regimes, training gaps, and safety culture. We’re ready to support you, whether by delivering CISRS scaffold inspection training, carrying out inspections on your behalf, or collaborating on safety audits and consultancy.

How You Can Get Involved

  • Nominate a Scaff Star – inspire the industry by putting forward someone you believe deserves recognition.

  • Share your stories – challenges overcome, lessons learned, innovative techniques and tag #ScaffWeek to connect with the broader community.

  • Review your inspection practices – take advantage of the momentum to ensure scaffolding regimes are robust, compliant, and aligned with updated guidance.

National Scaffolding Week shines a light on a sector that often works behind the scenes – yet is foundational to safe construction. At Safety & Access, we’re proud to champion scaffold excellence, competence, and safety culture.

Let’s use NSW as a springboard (nationalscaffoldingweek.com) not just for celebration, but for sustained improvement. Want support with inspection training, consultancy, or scaffold audits? We’re here, reach out and let’s raise the bar together.
