The CISRS COTS course (Construction Operatives Training Scheme) is the mandatory entry-level scaffolding course for anyone starting a career in scaffolding or working as a scaffolder’s labourer in the UK. It is the first required step toward obtaining a CISRS Trainee Scaffolder card issued by CISRS. The Scaffolder COTS course provides essential health and safety knowledge, along with a practical understanding of scaffolding components, safe handling, and site working practices. Once completed, candidates are eligible to apply for a CISRS Trainee card, allowing them to work on site as a scaffolder’s labourer while gaining the experience needed to progress to CISRS Part 1 Scaffolding Training.
This COTS scaffold labourer course is for people who are new to scaffolding. Existing CISRS Scaffolding Labourer (green) Card holders also need to take this course to renew their card every five years. The course teaches the basics of the industry and how to work safely with scaffolding and access equipment.

Delegates wishing to book one of these courses will be required to have a CITB HS&E Test (or accepted exemption) in place at the time of booking. The CITB HS&E Test (or accepted exemption) needs to have been passed within the previous 23 months before the course start date.
