NASC Unveils 2025 Safety Report

NASC Unveils 2025 Safety Report: Record Progress in Scaffolding Safety

At Safety & Access, safety is more than a box-ticking exercise — it’s the foundation of everything we do. The release of the NASC Safety Report 2025, based on 2024 incident data, marks a significant milestone for the scaffolding and access industry. It charts not just remarkable progress, but a renewed commitment across the sector to continuous improvement and safer working practices.

Chief Executive Clive Dickin praised members for their “safety-first culture.”

“These results aren’t just statistics; they’re proof that high standards and collaboration can save lives,” he said. “But there can be no complacency when it comes to the safety of individuals working at height.”

2025 Key Safety Figures at a Glance

The report shines a spotlight on the sector’s most successful year yet in terms of safety performance:

  • Accident Frequency Rate (AFR): 0.20

    • The lowest AFR in NASC’s 50-year reporting history

  • Accident Incident Rate (AIR): 3.75

    • Another record low, reflecting greater safety awareness and implementation

  • 16% overall reduction in accidents, even with a 17% increase in operative numbers year-on-year

  • 22% growth in NASC membership, including 54 new contractor companies and 2,775 additional operatives contributing to data

What This Means for the Industry

A Safer Industry Than Ever Before

The lowest recorded AFR and AIR highlight that industry-wide efforts to enhance safety are delivering results. More operatives are working safely than ever before, even as the workforce expands rapidly.

Strong Safety Culture & Accountability

100% RIDDOR compliance among members demonstrates a culture of accountability and mature safety management. These aren’t just numbers—they represent real changes on the ground.

Focus on Mental Health & Digital Tools

The NASC report also recognises the positive impact of digital tools like TG20/TG30 and mental health initiatives including:

  • Pocket user guides

  • Technical support lines

  • Greater mental health resource accessibility

This evolution signals a shift from reactive safety to proactive wellbeing and innovation.
