Overhead Rigid Lifeline Systems

When head clearance is tight, a cable lifeline isn't always the safest answer. Kee Track rigid rail systems arrest a fall over a far shorter distance, protecting people and the equipment below.

What it is

Fall protection where every centimetre of clearance counts

An overhead rigid lifeline is a rail fixed above the work area. The worker's harness connects to a trolley that runs along the rail, so they stay protected as they move.

Unlike a cable lifeline, which sags under load and needs more clearance, a rigid rail stops a fall over a much shorter distance. That makes it ideal for maintenance bays where both floor space and headroom are limited.

Why Kee Track

Engineered for demanding industrial sites

Kee Track is one of the most widely specified overhead rigid lifelines in the UK, built to protect both workers and the equipment beneath them.

Short fall distances

The rigid rail minimises fall distance, so it works where a cable system would need more clearance.

Modular design

A small number of modular parts means the system can be extended or reconfigured as your facility changes.

Hands-free movement

A lightweight, sealed-bearing trolley glides along the rail with no need to disconnect or adjust.

Prevents swing falls

Rigid construction removes the pendulum effect that cable lifelines can suffer during a fall.

Tested to UK & EU standards

Built from quality Kee Safety components and fully tested to fall protection standards.

Protects equipment too

Stopping a fall quickly protects the vehicle, aircraft or machinery being worked on from costly damage.

The business case

Safer, faster and lower cost over time

Worker and equipment safety

Keeps people safe in hazardous environments and protects the asset they are working on.

Durable and cost-efficient

Needs less maintenance and fewer replacements than cable systems, making it a sound long-term investment.

Higher productivity

Workers move between tasks without interruption, so jobs finish faster and with more confidence.

Less risk of misuse

A simple, intuitive system that teams use correctly without complicated instructions.

Where it is used

Built for low-clearance environments

Kee Track protects workers wherever overhead protection is needed but ceiling height is limited.

  • Truck, bus and train maintenance bays
  • Loading docks
  • Aircraft hangars and aviation maintenance
  • Manufacturing production lines
  • Large plant and equipment maintenance

What is an overhead rigid lifeline system?

A rigid rail fixed above a work area. The worker's harness connects to a trolley running along the rail. It is designed for low-clearance spaces where a cable lifeline would need more fall clearance than is available.

How is a rigid rail different from a cable lifeline?

A rigid rail does not sag under load like a cable, so it arrests a fall over a much shorter distance and reduces the risk of a pendulum swing. That makes it better suited to confined or low-clearance spaces.

Where are overhead rigid lifelines usually installed?

Vehicle and aircraft maintenance bays, manufacturing lines, and warehousing or loading areas where overhead protection is needed but ceiling height is limited.

Can several workers use the same system?

Yes. Kee Track systems can support multiple users in the same overhead space, depending on the configuration installed.

Does it need much maintenance?

Less than a cable system. The rigid rail is more durable and needs fewer adjustments, but we still recommend regular inspection as part of a maintenance plan.

What standards does Kee Track meet?

Kee Track is tested to BS EN 795:2012 Type D (rigid anchor lines) and CEN/TS 16415:2013 for more than one user, and every installation is carried out in line with the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
